We thought about going on the Durango - Silverton train ride today, but at about $100 each, it didn't seem very important. We could have rented a car and drove up the mountain, but they were out of rentals. The fall colors are so pretty right now.
So we drove on to Cortez, This is the place that the manager is Seventh-day Adventist. He gives us a free room - his best. This room has 2 king beds, big screen TV, refrigerator and microwave, and a large hot tub in the room. This is the third time Brian has done this for us, and we're staying for two nights.
All around the 'back forty' of the motel are prairie dogs - hundreds of them. They are so cute to see, but what a mess they make. Good thing it isn't the motel's yard they are digging in, but the fields behind it.
We did lunch at Denny's, a couple buildings over, then worked in the trailer all afternoon. After looking at all the ads in the phone book for restaurants, we decided Denney's was still the best choice. So we ate there again.
