November 6 Las Vegas, NV

Our first sale was hard because everyone seemed to be mixed up on the time change.  One man was an hour early and almost everyone else was late.  So our hour sale was about two and a half long.  Good thing we had time to be there that long.

One lady came in asking for a certain book by a certain author.  The book was purple.  Luckily she had the name of the book fairly close.  I did find it, we had one copy.  But it was a different color and different author.  It's exciting to be able to find what a customer wants, even when they don't really know.

Our second sale was well attended.   We stayed busy.  It was also a 'happy/sad' sale.  It was my last one for this run.  Tomorrow I fly home and Jim get to do the next ten days alone.

We need to move by the end of the month and we haven't a clue as to where.  So I need to get home.  I need to figure out where we're going to move and start packing.  Fun days ahead!!!

November 5 Las Vegas, NV

It's terrible to have to drive clear across town to eat at a favorite restaurant.  Most of the ones close here are in casinos.  I hate to come out and smell like smoke.  So we ate at Ruby Tuesday's two days in a row.

We very seldom have a Saturday night sale.  But the Spanish Church here usually has a Vespers followed by a volley ball fame.  That really helps bring the people in.  There were so many people in the trailer that nobody could move.  Several people came from the other Churches.  I don't know how they shop, but they do.

There were a couple people (kids?) that felt like they needed to rearrange the books.  I don't know if it's a game, or what.  Lots of books were put in wrong places - totally different parts of the trailer.  I found books with the games, Bibles in the stories, several books were in the wrong sections and even more books were put on the shelves backwards.  If it was a game, they won!  It sure takes awhile to clean up afterwards.

I love it when I cash up after a crowd like this and my drawer is penny perfect.  That feels good.

November 4 Las Vegas, NV

Talk about busy... We literally  worked all day and didn't even have any customers.  In the middle of the afternoon we had to go back to the cold storage warehouse to pick up several more boxes of books that Pacific Press shipped to us.

It is so sad to see all the homeless people on the streets.  Over by the Storage place, they are everywhere.  Several had fixed up shelters by a fence to help protect them from the weather.  But the fence was right next to the sidewalk, so there was no privacy.  A storm came through here today with wind and rain.  It was cold.

Surely there is something we could be doing to help them.  We are so blessed everyday and just assume that it is our right.  We have homes, cars, food, warm beds to sleep in, and so much more.

November 3 Las Vegas, NV

Right after you leave St George, is a neat piece of highway that has big rock mountains.  I didn't take pictures this time.  It seems like I have other trips.

We stopped at cold storage to pick up our last load of food and books.  We worked several hours today and will again tomorrow to get it put away and  pull out our pre-orders.

Our motel is pretty much downtown.  We walked to PJ Chang's for lunch (about 1/2 mile).  Then for supper we walked the other direction to Hard Rock Cafe.  When we got there, we saw Sub Way across the street.  We decided to eat there instead.

November 2 St George, UT

It's quite a drive from SLC to St George.  We didn't get as quick a start as we intended.  We had to deliver an order first.

Where are our customers?  It was cold tonight, but not freezing.  Maybe that scared them off.  It was a very small turn out.

November 1 West Jordan, UT

The longer the day, the colder it got!  By evening, it was downright cold.  We need heavier coats.  The mountains around town had light snow about half way down.  There wasn't any snow on them yesterday.

We had a lighter crowd of customers tonight than we did on Thursday.  I think most of our SLC customers went Thursday so they could make sure we didn't run out of what they wanted.  They about cleaned us out.  We are out of several items now.  We have one more sale tomorrow before we restock again in Vegas.

October 31 Ogden, UT

Today was another busy day.  Jim worked in the trailer all morning and I did personal stuff.  We're looking for a different house to live in when we're home.  Looking for houses on Craig's List is interesting.  Even when I find one I like, I can't go see it.

We went to Marie Callendars for lunch.  Then made a quick trip to Wal Mart.  Jim got a haircut.  We just did 'stuff'.  But it took all day.
