It snowed during the night. Watching TV, we knew it was suppose to snow more later today, especially on the mountain pass we have to go over. There's suppose to be some slick spots, but that was the worse of the forecast.
We thought that by leaving around noon, the slick spot would have time to melt. First we went through an area of about five miles where they pulled up the road and hid it - road construction. WE drove on hard packed, wet dirt. After that the roads were dry for quite awhile. But after we drove through Ten Sleep (a town) and started up that mountain, it was a completely different story.
The mountain side had snow closer up to the road, but the roads were dry. Then it started snowing. By the time we got to the top of that 9600' pass, I was getting pretty nervous. Mostly the roads were wet, but not snow packed. Remember that we can not put chains on the truck, because there is not enough room around the tire.
The worse it got was blowing snow, slick roads and almost no visibility, with no place to pull off the road. It also had 7% grades, up and down, and sharp corners.
But my God is good!!! He is bigger and more powerful than a mountain storm. He was with us every inch of the way. This is the first storm of any kind that we've traveled through in a very long time. Praise the Lord!
